DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities for this position are to provide counsel on IP (especially patent) matters to the company’s personnel in China and US.This position also works with colleagues at the company’s other global locations on matters and projects to secure and protect IP rights.In specific, duties include:
- Working on team to provide counsel for merger, acquisition, joint venture, divestiture and licensing matters
- Evaluating competitive patentability; advising on right to practice and infringement issues
- Providing support for drafting and negotiation of secrecy, research and consulting agreements
- Training personnel on IP matters
- Counseling R&D personnel on patentability
- Preparing patent applications for filing in China and US
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in chemistry / chemical engineering or Legal education in IP
- PRC bar qualification – preferred
- Patent Agent Qualification Certificate in PRC – preferred
- Familiar with patent drafting and prosecution, patent licensing and patent litigation, freedom to practice opinions and client counseling
- 7+ years patent related experience in chemical industry
- Critical thinking skills; team work; working at highest ethical standards
