THE EMPLOYER:
Our client is a US Fortune 500 Company. It pioneered the semiconductor memory products, which has developed technology enabling the computer and Internet revolution. It supplies the computing and communications industries with chips, boards, systems, and software building blocks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be supporting the legal needs of various company business groups in China, and from time to time, may be called on to support business groups that are located in Asia.
Due to the global nature of company's business, s/he will be coordinating and interacting with various legal and business stakeholders in China, US and other parts of the world, to maximize shareholders interest and to deliver world class legal service to the company.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with various business groups’ staffs in strategic planning
- Advising business clients on deal structure and IP models for engaging with external companies, universities, and or government affiliated enterprises and investing in other companies
- Working with clients to negotiate and execute contracts to support such engagements, and to meet specific regulatory and legal requirements for new products launches
- Being part of the China legal team and support projects and programs unique to company's China operations and help the team to maintain cutting edge of knowledge of China's ever changing legal and policy environment
REQUIREMENTS:
- 9+ years experience in an in-house legal department of a MNC and/or a reputable law firm
- Law degree(s) from reputable China and/or overseas law school(s)
- PRC bar or any recognized bar qualification
- Strong leadership skills (a take charge individual) and the ability to influence other stakeholders
- Strong project management skills
- Strong skills in structuring, drafting, and negotiating business agreements
- Good understanding of IP and associated licensing
- Ability to understand the business needs of a client group and proactively formulate the effective legal solutions
- Excellent communication skills
- Good language skills in both English and Chinese
