THE EMPLOYER:

Our client is a leading manufacturer of roller bearings worldwide. With approximately 66,000 employees at over 180 locations, the company is active in the automotive, industrial and aerospace sectors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling IP matters in China/Asia.He/she will report to Corporate Engineering Director in China.Main duties and responsibilities are:

• Preparation of patent and utility model applications
• Monitoring of protective rights activities of our competitors and customers especially in China/Asia
• Advising of inventors; judgment of planned new constructions with a view to legal patent aspects
• Advising in connection with the filing and prosecution of protective rights
• Defense against third party legal claims through cancellation requests and revocation actions in China
• Correspondence with China correspondent attorneys
• Negotiations before the Patent Office
• Participation in collision examinations and combat against third party protective rights
• Patent and trademark searches (especially in Chinese language)
• Processing of Chinese trademark matters
• Handling litigations (patent infringement proceedings) in China
• Working closely together with the company’s counterfeit law firm

REQUIREMENTS:

• University education in Engineering Sciences
• At least 5+ years experience in legal practice (law firm or legal function of multinational company)
• PRC legal qualification; PRC patent and/or trademark qualification – preferably
• Fluent in English and/or German
• Good understanding of Chinese and western culture
