THE EMPLOYER:
Our client is a recognized worldwide as the leader in pumping technology. The company has about 14,000 employees and operates in 56 countries through three divisions: the pump division, the flow control division, and the flow solutions divisions.
The company is seeking China Legal Director, based in its China headquarter, Shanghai.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position reports directly to Vice President of Corporate legal department and China President. The main responsibilities are:
- To support M&A and investment activities in China
- To draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts (such as sales agreements, technology licensing, supply agreement, etc), coordinate with and support China sales team and advise on and actively involve in dealing with customers in China in contract drafting and negotiation with support from China legal team
- Provide day-to-day legal guidance and advise on all functional aspects of China operations
- Member of China leadership team, assist China management and actively involve in developing and implementing legal strategies consistent with business objectives
- Anticipate legal issues arising from daily operation in law and business circumstances and proactively develop solutions.
- Coordinate and assist global legal counsels on all functional legal matters in China
- Assist HR on training China employees to enhance awareness of legal and ethic compliance
- Supervise the China staff lawyer and accountable for coaching and development
- Select and manage outside legal counsel for major projects
- Management of outside counsel of legal matters outside China as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7-10 years working experience with legal transaction and exposure in a commercial environment
- Overall knowledge about China law and solid experience in handling legal matters as in-house role, experience in leading a legal team is a plus
- Strong communication, negotiation and organization skills with good business sense and broad vision
- Strong English language fluency both orally and writing
- Able to understand and assess legal risks in all functions and use appropriate judgment and approach to control and manage such risks
- Overseas studies or work experience with multinational company - preferred
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Confident, decisive, accountable and able to work under pressure
