Headquartered in USA, this is an automotive parts company.It is one of the world’s largest automotive parts manufacturers.With offices worldwide, the company operates lots of wholly owned manufacturing sites, joint ventures, customer centers and sales offices.

Currently, the company is seeking a Regional Customs Counsel based in Shanghai.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will provide legal counsel and support on customs and trade matters across all staffs and divisions in the Asia Pacific region. S/he will report to the Global Customs Counsel based in America. Duties include:

  • Monitor laws, regulations and administrative rulings affecting customs and trade in the region; communicate proposed and enacted changes and assist in analyzing the impact of the changes.
  • Provide advice and support on structure and terms of current and prospective purchase and sale transactions; potential mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; use of duty avoidance, deferral, or reduction programs; review contract for customs and trade issues
  • Assist in development and communication on trade policy and customs functional policy issues; advocate for the company’s position before government, trade, and industry groups
  • Provide legal advice and assistance in preparation and submission of applications for trade programs, maintenance and amendment for customs permits and licenses
  • Advise on and assist in management of customs-related government inquiries, audits, and investigations or controversies
  • Draft and assist in the negotiation of standard broker contracts
  • Conduct internal reviews of customs processes and operations

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Law degree from a leading university
  • PRC bar qualification
  • 10+ years of experience with customs and trade matters in reputable law firm, business, or consulting
  • Supervisory experience, preferably in the customs area
  • Strong understanding of the customs trade laws, regulations, and procedures of the countries in the region
  • Good relationship with government authorities in the region
  • Responsive, proactive team player and result-oriented
  • Good written and communication skills in both English and Chinese
  • Willing to travel as requested
